Hi, I’m David Farquhar, an artist and illustrator based in Glasgow. My work is all about people — how we connect, how we see each other, and how we express love and identity. As a gay man, I try to bring honesty and emotion into everything I create.

I was born in Paisley, Scotland, and I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember. I studied Illustration and Printmaking at Duncan of Jordanstone Art School in Dundee, and these days I split my time between freelance illustration, portrait and commission work.

Most of my drawings focus primarily on male figurative work and gay relationships. I usually focus on pencil work — I love the simplicity and control of working in black and white — then scan and edit them digitally. Sometimes I mix in inks, markers, or other media, depending on what the piece needs.

A lot of my personal work explores LGBTQ+ themes and the different ways we connect with one another. One of my favourite pieces, The Boys, looks at male beauty and intimacy through detailed, realistic pencil drawings.
